SC upholds Right to Education Act, education for poor
New Delhi, April 12 (ANI): In a landmark judgment today the
Supreme Court upheld the constitutional validity of the Right to
Education Act, 2009, which mandates 25 per cent free seats to the
poor in government and private unaided schools uniformly across the
country.
The Apex court further added that the act will not be applicable
for unaided minority schools.The law envisages that all poor
children aged 6-14 years will be given free and compulsory
education within their neighbourhood.
