The government has agreed to put the audio recordings of proceedings of the Joint Drafting Committee constituted to draft the Lokpal Bill in public domain. The personnel and training department (DoPT) had earlier refused to bring out the deliberations of the committee in public domain saying that they needed the permission from law ministry as the committee was constituted by the notification of the Ministry of Law and Justice. The matter was referred to the Department of Legal Affairs in Ministry of Law and Justice for clarification.

In its recent reply from the under secretary of DoPT, Amarjit Singh, the department seems to have changed its mind and asked activist SC Agrawal to deposit Rs 450 as additional fee for providing the audio recordings of the deliberations which runs over nine CDs.
